Through my experience as a United States Marine Corps veteran of 14 years and a salesman of 3 years I am well versed in the following abilities:Ability to meet and deal with people of differing backgrounds and behavioral patterns:The Marine Corps is a vastly diverse organization. During my time I was required to work with, lead, train and protect individuals of every creed, color, religion and background. This also aided me as a salesman where I dealt with people of a variety of backgrounds and personalities.Ability to lead, supervise, and instruct others:As a Team Teader, Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant I have over 10 years experience leading, supervising and instructing Marines in various aspects of infantry training and tactics as well as evaluating their performance. Ability to make decisions and act quickly, particularly under stress:This was a skill used constantly in my time not only during my combat deployments but also in my daily tasks and training scenarios. I further developed this skill during my time as a salesman. I constantly have to make decisions on they fly while observing the customer on which direction to steer my sales pitch, and ultimately the customer. Poise and self-confidence, and ability to remain calm during emergency situations:Bearing is the leadership trait that the Marine Corps most prides itself on. It is the first lesson taught during training and consistently utilized through any Marine's career. I have lead Marines through four combat deployments, and numerous fire fights. My bearing is what brought me home. This is also a skill I use as a salesman. Salesman do not always make a connection with the customers, but through bearing and tact I can still close the sale.
