Experienced Scientist with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry.As an assistant professor of human genetics at the University of Chicago, My major interests focus on the genetic basis of common complex and rare diseases in human population based and proband sampling based studies using various DNA technologies. Mainly, the development and application of molecular interaction network in disease discovery. Comprehensive study of Autism disease and the discovery of a 16p microdeletion, and discovery of novel autoimmune disease pathway and genes involved.As the director of the Framingham Heart Study Genetics laboratories My major interests focus on the genetic basis of common complex disease in human population based and proband sampling based studies using various DNA technologies. I have participated in the analysis of the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) in an effort to identify biological markers for several traits. The longitudinal follow-up of the FHS cohorts and families DNA has been collected since 1987 and used in first generation genome scans and linkage analysis to implicate loci conferring increased susceptibility to a multitude of diseases, risk factors and traits.Now, I’m following my true calling, a neurologist to bridge research and clinical practice.
