I am passionate about Translational Modeling, which spans both computational and wet lab domains in biological research. My diverse background across Chemical Engineering, Bioinformatics, plus Systems and Synthetic Biology seeks to close the loop with expertise on both systems level computational modeling and wet lab validation. The end goal is to implement an iterative process that goes back and forth between experimental design and computational modeling: to generate predictions that can be evaluated inside the real world with wet lab validation, design better experiments on each side based on outputs of the other side, on and on until science is done. Translational Modeling to me means the ability to translate insights and applications not only from theoretical domains to the real world, but also back from real world data into extrapolated knowledge-bases and predictive models.As a Citizen Scientist (under the working definition of research done without an institutional affiliation) and a patient-turned-researcher, I am also motivated to develop new treatment options for at least one condition that I have firsthand experience with. My approaches span across technical training in basic science and engineering from academia, industry engineering experience, and advocacy to make change where the rest of the world may not have caught up to cutting edge scientific developments yet. My primary Citizen Science efforts focus on "horizontal data analysis" that goes counter to the conventional direction of data analysis. Rather than the traditional data collection to publication route, I work horizontally across studies, data types, human conditions, and more. I have built up a track record of multi-omics integration using open-source data repositories (and some limited access repositories as well) such as MapMEcfs.org, GISAID.org, the Human Protein Atlas, NCBI SRA and GEO, and more.
