I lead a nine person team who are responsible for the Commissions expertise, engagement and advice for the agriculture, forestry and waste sectors. We do four things: advise on how to transition to a low-emissions economy for those sectors, on how to adapt to the changing climate, and hold the Government to account on progress for adaptation and mitigation. To all of these tasks we take an independent evidence based approach. Incorporating te ao maori into our policy work is a key focus Engagement with New Zealanders and international colleagues is at the heart of what we do.

I managed a seven-person multi-agency team developing economic instruments to manage freshwater resources within environmental limits. There was a high degree of ministerial interest in the work which required frequent oral and written advice. This project involved managing relationships across a wide range of vocal stakeholders with competing viewpoints. This included engaging with Māori groups on their rights and interests in freshwater.

I led the six-person team responsible for He Puna Hao Pātiki, the 2018 Investment Statement. He Puna Hao Pātiki embedded the Living Standards Framework in practice by examining howthe assets and liabilities of the government contribute to wellbeing and by testing fiscal resilience. The Statement also developed the Treasury view on natural capital including exploring how non-financial measures can be used to compare and track progress.He Puna Hao Pātiki was widely commended locally and internationally. For example, it was described as ground-breaking by OECD staff and was the topic of a parliamentary debate where it was widely complimented by all parties. He Puna Hao Pātiki won the 2018 Ivan Kwok award for excellenceand growth in the Crown-Māori space for the incorporation of te ao and te reo Māori concepts and design.During this role I was asked to be the Treasury representative on the programme board of the Defence Capability Change Action Programme. This was a major multi agency systemic change programme to embed world-leading practice in how defence capabilities are procured and managed. This was valuable experience in a programme governance role.

• Programme management support for the 2014 Flagship programme, which aims to improve co-ordination of NZ Police, Dept. of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice's frontline staff through a locally-developed work programme of 7-9 initiatives that will make improvements to the delivery of local justice services or the crime rate.• Advice on project management, strategic fit and communications to the project team.• Brokering access to knowledge about what works for the project teams.• Removing roadblocks on behalf of the project teams.• Worked with the Ministry of Social Development on the production of a booklet telling the social sector story. My role was to co-ordinate the Justice Sector input and ensure the final content was correct.• Acted as Manager of Strategy team for two weeks while manager was away.• Continued to act as Principal Adviser – Corrections.
