Leasing 450ha in the mid-Canterbury foothills. Mostly rolling to steep non-irrigated land with 40ha of irrigated river flats. Predominately grow young dairy heifers on contract, some sheep and beef trading, and 50-80ha of arable crops including wheat, peas, quinoa and radish seed.Our management is underpinned by a focus on promoting soil biology and plant diversity where possible/practical including slow release capital fertilisers, foliar nutrition, biological inputs, diverse forage crops and pastures, deferred grazing, bale grazing etc.

I have fulfilled many roles with Quorum Sense including design and delivery of field days, events, webinars, case studies, digital communications platforms and the knowledge hub (the QS 'Toolbox').I now lead 'Catch the Rain', funded by B+LNZ, which is an innovative farmer learning and research project aiming to improve farmer understanding of rainfall infiltration and soil moisture retention, and gather data on systems/practices that are shown to improve infiltration and/or retention. The project is oriented around on-farm trials and comparisons, with the trial design and comparisons led by farmers with support from Quorum Sense, Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research, Plant and Food Research, and Massey University.

Quorum Sense is a rapidly growing grassroots network who's mission is to "generate and share practical knowledge to support regenerative farm systems and vibrant rural communities". Quorum Sense is a charitable trust and my role is to drive the delivery of high impact events, field days, a learning-oriented website, case studies and multiple other projects oriented to supporting the growing demand for knowledge, ideas and connectivity. Also exploring high impact research and innovation opportunities within our network.

Collaborating on multiple regenerative farm and food system project with Calm the Farm, Dr Gwen Grelet, NEXT Foundation & others. This work spans participatory strategy & design, research, farmer-driven innovation, strategic philanthropy & climate policy.I also work in the B+L Hill Country Futures research programme at a governance level and as a social/systems researcher.

Central Hawke'S Bay

Working with Greg & Rachel Hart managing a 600ha mixed hill country farm with sheep, cattle, dairy, pigs and chickens, plus ecotourism, education and direct marketing enterprises. Key responsibility for holistic grazing management plus involvement in all other farm enterprises.

Gisborne & Hawkes Bay, New Zealand

Shepherd on a 500ha rolling hill country (extended) family farm focused on cattle and lamb finishing, just south of Waipukurau, Hawke's Bay.

Wellington

Major consenting projects included the Tukituki Catchment Proposal (Hawke's Bay) and NZ's first seabed mining application under new EEZ legislation by Trans-Tasman Resources. Experience also involved 6 months as a Subject Matter Expert on an major internal systems upgrade project from project initation phase and current-state business analysis to developing a Business Investment Case and detailed solution components.

Field studies tutor at the Eagles Nest Education Centre. Primary teaching fields are geography and biology for British and International school and university students.

Worked on a pre-existing project investigating attachment to place among researchers, assistants, base staff and artists who have spent time in Antarctica. My primary role was organising and coding the data collected using NVivo 9 software.
