I conceptualized and led execution of novel research into a new model of early-life malnutrition using zebrafish to improve our understanding of the effects of in utero malnutrition on later development.My key achievements:• Selected zebrafish due to unique characteristic of developing independent of parental influences, obtaining key insights into early-life stress responses compared to nurtured offspring.• Received funding from The Netherlands, EU and China; presented findings at international scientific conferences and through open-access publication.

In this role, I led the technology implementation of the research I completed for my PhD, applying my functional genomics skills in RNA sequencing and optimizing cloning methods, bioinformatics pipelines and comparative analysis.My key achievement:• RNAseq library preparation methods development and validation• Interfaced with industry to validate small RNA protocols for SOLiD next-generation sequencing, which resulted in major shift in scope of this sequencing method.
