Design and development for robotic surgery

- Lead undergraduate and graduate students through the design and fabrication of custom steel bicycles- Course topics include bicycle history, dynamics, ergonomics, material/component selection, CAD/drafting- Direct instruction of fabrication techniques including: TIG welding, brazing, machining, metrology

-Opto-mechanical design, development, and sustaining engineering of the current and future nVista and nVoke miniaturized microscope systems. -Collaboration with In-house and external neuroscientists to design accessories such as the ProView Implant Kit and the Rat Application Module to enhance and expand on the core microscope technology. -Longer term R&D projects include testbeds for evaluating new technologies, materials, surgical techniques, and biological research.

- Helping lead the continued development and engineering of Inscopix's flagship product- Responsible for closely interfacing with Manufacturing Operations to ensure organized phase-in of change orders- Developing and streamlining assembly and test processes- Troubleshooting and helping to resolve product returns from the field- Contributing to the continued development and maintenance of the nVista product.- Participating in new product development and R&D efforts

Trained in high precision laser cutting & welding, microblasting, shapesetting, chemical etching, electropolishing, inspection, design, and testing of medical devices made from all types of materials including SS alloys and Nitinol.Responsibilities include:Production DFM and CAM programming.Oversee high and low volume production processes from order through shipping.Complete internal and external research and development assignments involving mechanical design, metallurgy, cleaning procedures, process improvement, product testing, and more. Assist in top-down design and prototyping of novel medical devices. Initiated efforts to fully parametrize a family of cardiovascular stents.Represented company at MEDTEC Europe. Spoke to prospective clients, doctors, and suppliers.

Applied value engineering principles to reduce manufacturing cost. Redesigned and presented recommendations for customer parts and assemblies using VAVE, DFM, and DFA techniques.
