I am a second year mechanical engineering student at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. From a young age I was an avid problem solver who loved puzzles and games, and was always willing to mentally challenge myself. I always loved creating, designing and putting things together. I realised from about 15 years of age that I wanted to be an engineer, using my passions and skills to solve real world problems. This extends to what I am currently doing as cricket has forever been apart of part of my life and along with playing, I fell in love with coaching. This stems from my immediate family's influence as my brother is an active player coming through the junior systems and my father is similarly a level 2 coach. What really appeals to me in this line of work is using and developing my problem-solving, organisational, communication and leadership skills in a very practical sense with quantifiable results and tangible feedback. The intrapersonal connections developed with players, parents and other coaches is my favourite aspect of my role as a cricket coach currently. Working in teams with other passionate and committed individuals simultaneously working towards a common goal inspires me to continually improve and give my best efforts. These professional skills and personal attributes that I have developed will significantly aid my transition into my desired field. Just recently I had the opportunity with 3 of my close friends to compete in the Weir Warman Competition, where we were required to build a functional machine. This practical assessment gave myself enormous insight to how my transferable skills in conjunction with the knowledge and theory I'm building on with my studies can be applied to create something extraordinary. We were named winners of the Queensland division, and have been given the opportunity to compete on a national scale. I would love to work in a field similar to this as it utilises my strengths whole-heartedly and as I found this project very enjoyable.

  Worked in the Academy helping kids aged 8-16 develop their technical proficiencies and cricketing abilities. Coached many cricket sides (5-10 Teams), from Under 12's to Under 19's. Developed SkillsOrganisation Skills: sorting player numbers, gear and uniforms. Communication Skills: interacting with players, parents and other coaches. Problem Solving Skills: completing line-ups, working on players game to achieve best results. Leadership Skills: making critical decisions best for the team.
