Earned multiple-course (in NY and Montreal) certification as Passivhaus Design Consultant to personally blueprint, be the general contractor and supervise all my home construction and tradespeople under a very strict budget. In addition, I also: * Designed and built custom-insulated foundation system. Collaborated with local geofoam manufacturer to configure novel insulation block modules. * Invented & installed “unavailable-in-the-market” 15-zone, water-based radiant wall-heating AND cooling system that guaranteed even distribution of energy in a large home. ** note: radiant floor installations would have increased cost considerably, be unreasonably oversized for an ultra low energy home, and could not be used for cooling. * Configured and installed a unique fresh-air system (including ductwork) that smartly measures home air quality and vents when needed (standard market solutions rely on schedules for fresh air introduction, which compromises energy conservation efforts and can’t predict custom fresh air needs. Knowledge accumulated in Hudson Haus building science and thermal-control pursuits led to year-long research on current thermostat flaws, thus spawning the more impactful OVO thermostat business model.

Site, fixtures and menu designed in-house from scratch under a tight budget. First-year, break-even concept featuring quick-serve, healthy cuisine merged with gourmet, single-origin drip coffees and espressos helped ignite city’s new indy cafe culture. Supreme food quality with prompt, friendly service 12x7 lured huge repeat clientele of lawyers, judges and professionals largely through word-of-mouth. Profitable amid 15 rival restaurants within a one-block radius. Mastered the relentless hiring and training of staff (12) in the face of revolving turnover typical in food service. Point-of-sale electronics honed efficiency, boosted productivity and grew profit margin to over 15%. Serious Café Veritas franchise interest included two signees ultimately denied their loans in the wake of the post-2008 financial crisis.

My responsibilities as project lead/manager have been numerous, ranging from technical lead development to project planning to project leadership roles. There are two major projects that warrant more recognition than the rest and my role was:Integrated Product Team (IPT) Project Manager for the Trent 60 Wet-Low Emissions Dual Fuel Controls Team. My team was responsible for the design and development of a control system for a major dual fuel initiative on Trent60 WLE program. This is the single most complex design the controls team has designed hitherto. It includes multiple skids (water, air, diesel and gas) working in harmony. New controls software was designed to synchronize, monitor, and control the various components for successful operation of a dual fuel gas turbine engine.Integrated Product Team (IPT) Project Manager* for the Industrial Trent Mechanical Drive Controls team. My team was the major contributor for adapting the Industrial Trent engine to a mechanical drive application instead of its default application as a power generation unit. The control system's governors were completely redesigned (by myself) to control the Industrial Trent for variable speed operation. This achievement paves the way to standardizing a new product line into the family of Industrial Trent engines and in so doing increased the Industrial Trent's marketability.

Technical development of a non-realtime (NRT) environment for the communication/simulation of the Industrial Trent Engine/System Model with the Engine Control System (ECS) software code. The main objective was to reduce the Controls department's reliance on the real time Systems Test Facilities (STF) to only validation of the ECS S/W. As a result, to date, major cost-reductions and improved responsiveness & turn around time in the simulation and the software groups of the Controls department are clearly visible. Furthermore, the NRT project has received recognition as one of 5 finalists for the Rolls-Royce World-wide Controls Innovation and Achievement Award and the only project to be selected from Rolls-Royce North America

Collaborated on several gas turbine engine programs such as: the PT6C-67B (Swidnik), PT6C-67C (Tilt-rotor application), PW206C (Augusta), and PW206D (Bell 407).1. Developed and automated the system design of the gas-turbine software control loops. (such as the gas generator speed control, the free turbine speed control, the inter-turbine temperature (ITT) control, the engine torque limit control, etc ...).2. Improved & automated the analysis, validation & simulation of the above-mentioned design jobs to meet customer & standard work requirements.
