BDG Architects is an award-winning mid-size architectural firm specializing in multi-unitresidential, stand-alone residential and commercial projects. My tenure at BDG Architectshas deepened my professional understanding, developing my skills in project leadership,collaboration, and problem-solving, while familiarizing myself with the complexities ofarchitectural practice and construction management.While at BDG, I have worked on a variety of projects including multiple large scaleresidential developments consisting of 400+ units, stand-alone residential houses, industrialwarehouses, and commercial fitouts.Some of my responsibilities at BDG architects consisted of:-Leading projects from the concept stage through to construction completion.-Engaging in close collaboration with consultants to ensure key project objectiveswere achieved including co-ordination and review of truss designs, structural, fire andcivil engineering drawings, while collating various consultants work into workingdrawings.-Facilitating communication among various consultants, streamlining workflowprocesses.-Collaborating with civil engineers and coordinating stormwater and sewage design.-Preparation of building consents and essential lodgement documentation forsubmission to council including drawing plans, foundation plans, floor plans, roofplans, elevations, sections, details, lighting plans, electrical plans, window and doorschedules.-Accurate and innovative detailing to ensure both code compliance and clientrequirements are met.-Reviewing structural shop drawings.-Coordinating fee proposals to align with project budgets.-Proactively managing and resolving issues encountered during both the designdevelopment phase and on-site variations.-Liaising with councils and responding to requests for information to ensure buildingcode requirements were met.

Lead stand-alone residential projects, overseeing them from conceptualizationand resource consent stages through to the attainment of building consent and constructioncompletion.Some of my responsibilities at Michael Cooper Architects consisted of:-Serving as the primary and lead figure on each project, ensuring comprehensiveoversight from inception to delivery.-Diligently meeting client expectations and project briefs, guaranteeing satisfactionwith the completed project.-Facilitating effective communication and collaboration among clients, consultants,and builders, including the coordination and review of structural, fire and civilengineering drawings and reports.-Conducting thorough reviews of Unitary plan regulations to ensure project alignmentwithin site constraints.-Preparation of building consents and essential documentation for submission tocouncil, including detailed drawing plans such as foundation plans, floor plans, roofplans, elevations, sections, details, lighting plans, electrical plans, as well as windowand door schedules.-Drawings and collating structural plans and details and combining into thearchitectural drawing sets.-Reviewing steel fabrication shop drawings during the construction phase to ensureadherence to project requirements.-Handling and resolving issues arising from the coordination of multiple consultants'information and drawings during construction, effectively managing changes andfacilitating collaboration.

During my time at DKO, one of Australia’s leading international architecture firms, I had theopportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects, including large-scale, high-densityprojects, bespoke residential projects, hotels, apartments, urban design initiatives, andextensive master planning ventures throughout Auckland and Christchurch.Some of my responsibilities at DKO architects consisted of:-Facilitating meetings with clients and stakeholders to discuss project objectives andrequirements.-Preparing and presenting architectural concepts and feasibility studies to ensure theeconomic viability of the projects for clients.-Collaborating with the team to evaluate design concepts and offeringrecommendations to address challenges and enhance project outcomes.-Utilizing sketching and 3D modelling techniques to develop concept massing andvisualize design proposals.-Navigating the complexities of planning processes and engaging stakeholders atvarious project stages.-Contributing to the production of working drawings and detailed plans for bothresource and building consents as part of a collaborative team effort.
