With an enthusiasm for the ocean and community, Sam combined these two passions to cofound Ocean Heroes in 2016. Focusing predominantly in operations, relationships and growth, Sam leads the expansion of the NSW Free Events Program based out of Sydney. Hosting free surfing events around the country has provided me with experience in people and risk management, event logistics and community inclusion.Sam previously worked with Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development in the Fisheries Research branch for 8 years, specifically in the Marine Ecology and Monitoring section. Working with the Tropical Marine Parks team, working closely with Indigenous Ranger Groups across coastal Western and Eastern Kimberley. Operations included Baited Remote Underwater Video Systems (BRUVs), Diver Operated Videos (DOVs), Mud crab and Barramundi biomass studies, genetic connectivity, eDNA water sampling, and small vessel operations and logistics.
