Pre Sales Consultant (Tss)
In 2002 I moved from working for the service department to sales. My job is to assist the sales process by adding a consultative, technical layer that will ensure that what is sold is correct and meet the expectations of the customer. This is a demanding position that carries a lot of responsibilities; if what is sold is wrong or doesn’t fit the customer’s needs it will affect sign-off and cash-collection.My role includes:• Visiting customers• Assessing their needs and requirements• Building a system from a technical and commercial point of view• Full understanding of all Kodak GCG products• Integration with third party workflows/systems• Creating a workflow diagram and internal configuration tools to show how it will all work• Checking and releasing the order through the system• Communicating with service for smooth installation• After-sales support

This role bought me a vast knowledge of Creo products and how to get the best out of them.My roles include:• On site/classroom training in Creo products• Developing and implementing workflow solutions• Problem solving• Dealing directly with customers• Demonstrating products to customers• Testing and giving feedback to R&D for new products
Karat Digital Press - R&D Applications
After working in production for seventeen years I wanted to change my career and move from a commercial print environment to that of a manufacturer of graphic arts equipment. Due to my long relationship with Scitex they were an obvious choice and when a suitable position became available I joined the company.Karat Digital PressI joined the joint Scitex/KBA digital press venture in January 1999 as an Application/Workflow specialist. I worked extensively in Israel, Belgium and Germany developing the new press and was involved in all the Beta sites throughout the world. I helped develop new workflows with the R&D team, test new equipment and updates, it was a very interesting and challenging position and I gained vast experience of digital printing and colour management. It was the best introduction to working for a high-tech company possible and when the joint venture came to an end I had the opportunity to continue with KBA or stay with Creo. Due to my long relationship with Creo and my history of pre-press, the choice was an obvious one and I moved to the training department within Creo.
Systems/Production Manager
I was employed at Gordon Graphics to bring B1 image setting in-house. Because of my experience with Scitex systems and the success I had at Redmonds I was offered the position and my responsibilities were as follows:• Assessment of equipment and product testing to assure the ability to fulfill company requirements.• Preparation of the site for installation (networking, power supply, plumbing etc).• Hands-on training/management to maximize potential of equipment.• Maintain a close relationship between manufactures/suppliers.• Re-training of existing staff to allow them to work in an ever changing environment.• Employment of new staff• Estimating and production control.
Systems/Digital Print Manager
Redmond Graphics was a supplier I used whilst working at Lonsdales and we had built up a good working relationship. They were moving into the digital repro market and needed someone who could manage the shift from conventional to the digital method of working. I took the position as it gave me the opportunity of entering into totally new technology and new challenges. After assessing all the major RIP and imagesetting companies, Scitex was chosen and this was the start of my relationship with the company I’m currently employed by. I operated and trained the staff in the use of equipment and worked closely with Scitex/Creo over the years I worked at Redmonds. In 1996 Redmond Graphics was the first company in the midlands to purchase the Indigo E-Print 1000. I worked closely with Indigo, assisting with the development of the product and the training programs needed for future operators.
Repro Manager
1989 - 1990On returning back to England, Lonsdales offered me the opportunity of developing an in-house repro department as all the repro was being handled by an outside company. This involved the creation of an internal repro department, the purchasing of suitable equipment, creating the correct working environment and the employment of staff. For the next year I managed the department dealing with a heavy workload, meeting tight deadlines, purchasing consumables, dealing with the general day to day problems and reporting to the managing director on a weekly basis.
Repro Artist
This is the company I joined after leaving school. I studied at college in three month block release periods for four years to become a qualified Reprographics Artist. After passing my exams I became part of a team of twenty people and for the next two years built up skills in customer relations, improving my communication skills between shop floor and management together with increasing my ability to work unsupervised.1988 - 1989After six years with Photo-Lith Five I took the opportunity to go to America for a year. I travelled vastly and it was an education in itself, meeting different people and adapting to their way of life.
