I am an accountant with 39 years experience. For the first 21 years of my career I stayed with the same company, American Gilsonite Company, a mining operation. I worked there from July 1974 to May, 1995. As accounting supervisor for 10 years with American Gilsonite, it was my responsibility to manage all general ledger and accounting procedures and work with independent, internal, state and federal auditing groups.My duties included written and oral communication of financial data to management both in a large corporate (Chevron Resources) and a small business environment. Major points of emphasis were financial statements, cost and production reports, overhead allocation, variance analysis, inventory accounting and cost analysis. Capital and operating budget preparation and variance analysis were also part of my duties. My responsibilities have required a familiarity with GAAP.In northern Kentucky, I worked for Schmidt Poultry, Pestolite Electric, and Booth Properties and in Ohio, I worked for The Urban League of Greater Cincinnati and deFoxx & Associates.Below are a few of my career highlights:Managed a yearly administrative budget exceeding $1 million and supervised 4 to 6 employees in both the accounting office and the warehouse for over 10 years, During that time I combined the administrative secretary and receptionist duties. lead accountant and payroll clerk duties, and warehouse clerk and purchasing agent duties, when cost cutting became necessary. I was able to consistently hold administrative expenses under budget by 10 - 20%.Developed, implemented and managed three accounting systems using AccPac, Account-On-It, and Quick Books software. Negotiated with the Utah State Tax Commission in conjunction with the Chevron Tax Division to reduce property taxes by $30 thousand per year.Managed accounting functions for thirteen properties using Account-on-It software, each property required its own profit and loss center.Specialties: Supervised personnel.
