As the Vice Principal-Howqua I am in charge of Lauriston’s boarding year in the Victorian high country. We have approximately 100 girls and 20 teachers who live and learn on campus.Year 9 at Lauriston is an incredible opportunity for teenage girls to challenge themselves through an extensive outdoor, academic and social service program while learning to live in a house with ten other girls.I have a personal love of the outdoors and have worked extensively in rural school campuses in Australia and overseas. As a teacher and leader, the personal connections made in these environments are significant and rewarding. Developing strong relationships is the key to making a living-away-from-home campus really thrive.The environment provides a stunning backdrop for learning and development. Reflective of the natural surroundings, lessons range from art classes held in the outdoor classroom to science classes taught on the banks of the Howqua River.
