• Responsible for all communications, speechwriting, media, and press within the office.• Advised the Member on local, national and international policy issues, and frequently engaged with journalists, academics, ministers, and other senior politicians and officials from across all levels of government.• Led on all campaigns managed by the office, both on subjects of national and international policy - from refugee reunion to tackling human rights violations - to locally led efforts on rail improvement and school provision. • Regularly ghostwrote articles for national publications, including The Times, The Guardian, The i, Prospect Magazine, and Politics Home, as well as monthly opinion columns for The Municipal Journal and occasional essays for published collections. • Identified opportunities to build the Member’s media and online presence, monitoring political and parliamentary activity and providing communications advice, policy briefings, and political analysis.• Took the lead on all parliamentary business, scrutinising legislation, drafting and tabling amendments, submitting parliamentary questions on a wide range of issues. • Managed all work relating to the Member’s chairmanship of Parliament’s Justice Select Committee, including: liaising with senior clerks to organise informative and engaging evidence sessions with senior ministers and civil service officials, as well as with representatives from the justice sector; writing policy specific briefings; and managing media enquiries for the Committee. • Tasked with founding and running a number of high-profile All-Party Parliamentary Groups, including the APPG for London, APPG on the Rule of Law, and APPG on Stroke, organising a programme of engaging events for each. • Managed the Member’s online platforms, including his website, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

• Supported the Member in his work as Conservative Party Vice-Chair for Local Government and as a UK representative on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, during which time he was a member of the Assembly’s Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee, as well as the Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights. • Office lead on all policy correspondence.• Managed all work relating to a high-profile Private Members’ Bill.
