Summer Camp

Hammersmith, England, United Kingdom

For two summer holidays, I took on the role of running a basketball camp in the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The camp took place Monday to Thursday at Ravenscourt park ,which was free for all children u18, the camp was under the umbrella of summer in the city. The camp was designed for vulnerable young people (SEN, free school meals, single parent) to take part in physical activity in a safe environment furthermore attendees received a free lunch, which included a sandwich, fruit and water. Furthermore, we also provided nutritional education on the foods they were eating and advising the attendees on healthy eating choices. In addition, it was my responsibility to make sure every child was safe , I did this by following the safeguarding plan put in place. Outside of camp involved admin work, putting the relevant data on the database (who was coming, where from, which school, if they receive free school meals). It was also imperative that I followed GDPR rules to further enhance the safeguarding aspect.

English Second Language Teacher

Spain

I used to work in secondary school and sixth form in Valencia, Spain teaching English as a foreign language. My role involved the oral and cultural aspect of the English language, I would act as an ambassador of British culture during my time at the school. My classes were mainly focused around the oral aspect, I would often correct students pronunciation as well as word and sentence structure. My main goal in doing this was by making the classes as fun and engaging as possible, encouraging the students to participate.Often in my classes we would discuss British culture and make comparisons between the two societies: Spanish and British. My hours inside of the school were only part time however, I would spend time outside of scheduled hours to planning detailed lessons plans in the form of presentations and speaking games.I was fortunate enough to do this post abroad, meaning I had to adapt to a new culture. I learnt many skills during my time abroad as I had to meet new people from a different background whilst talking in my second language however, I benefited greatly from this experience. Fortunately, I can say after living abroad I am a more open minded and rounded person.

Shift Manager

Gidea Park, England, United Kingdom

When I first started at the company I was only an instore, however I worked my way up to a shift manager role.I often had to lead during busy rush periods by taking up the more important roles such as: pizza quality checking and preparing the orders for the drivers to deliver to the customers house. In addition, I would often have to deal with customer complaints in a calm and collected manner by listening to the customers concern, finding a solution and then resolving the problem.A key part of my role as well was food preparation, I would often help prepare food for a later busy shift. Whilst doing this I would ensure that food safety precautions were being carried out, ensuring there was no expired food and cross contamination. Also making the work surface clean for food preparation by sanitizing. At the end of the night for shifts I was on, I would have to do the inventory which requires: concentration, precision and computer skills as I would put down the inventory count into the computer system as well completing the credit card reports which would be then put onto a spread sheet.
