I am passionate about leveraging machine learning to extract information from large data sources, particularly when the outcomes of the application can be used to help improve the world. In 2013, I completed my PhD research at the University of Waikato: developing a relational reinforcement learning algorithm in an attempt to have machines learn how to efficiently and autonomously navigate in complex environments. Between 2012--2015 I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, developing techniques for extracting consistent ontological information from natural language web resources for ontological reasoning, as well as performing lecturing for the Artificial Intelligence and Game Design courses at The University of Waikato. From 2016--2019, I entered a Data Scientist industry position at AgroCares in Wageningen, within the Soilcares Research division, where I worked with spectroscopic data to improve the quality of the sensors for better soil and feed nutrient prediction.
