I am a researcher and entrepreneur driven by a passion to help people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes exercise without barriers. My career has been dedicated to empowering athletes with diabetes, helping them safely excel in their performance and achieve their exercise goals - from securing podium victories to enhancing daily life activities and overall health.I am the CEO at Enhance-d, a digital ecosystem of products designed to make exercise accessible and safe for individuals with diabetes. Our mission is to transform exercise into a spontaneous, engaging and empowering part of everyone’s lives.I serve as an Advisor on the Exercise Physiology interest group leadership team for the American Diabetes Association and was an Exercise subcommittee member in 2020 and 2021.Previously, I held the position of Head of Research for Team Novo Nordisk, the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team. Our mission was to inspire and demonstrate the limitless possibilities for those living with diabetes through the challenging demands of professional sports.I hold a PhD in Exercise Physiology from Liverpool John Moores University and have completed postdoctoral research in Canada and Switzerland. My primary research focus has been on developing strategies to overcome the major barriers to exercise for people living with diabetes. I’m the co-author of over 30 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals such as The Lancet, Diabetologia, the Journal of Physiology, and Diabetes Care, reflecting my commitment to advancing knowledge in exercise physiology and diabetes care.

Integrated Physiology In Health And DiseaseThe University Of Nottingham Sep 2013 - Sep 2014Nottingham, United KingdomThe course combines state of the art physiological and metabolic methodologies with relevant molecular biology approaches to study fundamental physiological aspects of human health and disease. Main topics include muscle function and metabolism in health and disease, cardiovascular regulation in health and disease, cardiorenorespiratory physiology, biochemistry and nutrition in exercise, health and disease (including diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease), laboratory techniques, statistics & research methods and clinical pharmacology. Over the course of the MSc I will have completed laboratory reports on the following techniques: doppler ultrasound and finometry; venous occlusion plethysmography; lung function tests; Western blotting; spectrophotometry and fluorometry; polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and real-time PCR; human maximal oxygen consumption testing; glucose clamp techniques and the use of isotope tracers. The aim of my dissertation was threefold: i) To investigate the effect of chronic hypoxia on glycolytic rate in perfused mouse hearts using 3H labelled radioisotopes. ii) To examine the effect of FIH-1 gene knockout on cardiac glycolysis. iii) The validity of the glucose extraction technique was investigated. -
