Principal Engineer - Braking Attributes
Current‒ Responsibility for the tuning of all braking attributes, ensuring brake hardware meets the vehicle level targets whilst achieving expected high customer satisfaction for areas such as brake squeal, creep groan, brake pedal feel, thermal judder, brake cooling, one pedal drive & regen blending‒ Close collaboration with key stakeholders such as internal attribute teams, function group teams and external suppliers, whilst also dealing with the simultaneous and detailed day-to-day technical running of multiple development programmes ‒ Excellent understanding of automotive engineering principals through constant liaison with teams such as the electrical propulsion system, vehicle motion, electrical integration, vehicle dynamics, NVH, plus how these areas interact with and impact the attributes I oversee‒ Highly proficient and experienced in whole vehicle subjective evaluation and the potential impact to customer satisfaction from attribute gaps to targets‒ Robust definition, planning, & delivery of the braking attributes DVP for various vehicle programmes to achieve the timely delivery of attribute requirement targets by their relevant gateways, ensuring all technical issues are identified and resolved utilising CAE, dyno and vehicle testing as appropriate‒ Managing several different vehicle programmes at the same time whilst collaborating with teams in different countries to ensure all targets are met without compromising the quality of the attributes‒ Competitor attribute benchmarking, combining both physical and virtual testing with objective and subjective assessments to help define the vehicle target setting process‒ Highly experienced in vehicle testing on prototype vehicles, including objective measurement and logging on multiple data acquisition systems, followed by processing and presentation of results‒ Organised, analytical and methodical approach to work with a high attention to detail
