What is the fastest way to unpack a dishwasher?Is it that simple? I will share how such a menial task has shaped my career and aspirations.In a family of five with two older brothers, it was my job to unpack the dishwasher once a day. For me it wasn't just any job, it was a challenge. How can I unpack the dishwasher to maximum efficiency, minimizing distance travelled and time till completion. I did it a slightly different way almost everyday for three years, timing myself every now and then to see which variants of this simple task were the best. For example: Stack all the plastic cups and plates at once and only take a few trips to the cupboards or take only three items at a time but move back and forth more quickly, and so forth.At this point you're probably expecting an answer; which way was the fastest? Well in the most diplomatic answer I can offer, it depends. How big is your kitchen? How far away are your plate and cup drawers? How many different types of items do you have?And just like every kitchen, every business is different. Efficiency is the name of the game.
