Dr. Sam Smith is the founder and CEO of C-Change Scotland, a not for profit organisation supporting disabled people to live the lives they choose. She also writes and campaigns on issues of human rights, equality and social justice. Sam has written book chapters, articles and blogs on disability and equality related issues. Her book Human Rights and Social Care: Putting rights into practice, was published in 2018. Sam has a particular interest in disability and mental capacity and legal identity as relates to substitute and supported decision making. Sam is a Board member of several organisations supporting disability rights and provider organisation development. She offers consultancy in organisational development, creative service design, inclusive practice, individual budgets and human rights. Drawing on academic theory and extensive practical experience Sam is both an informative and charismatic public speaker.
