Divisional Director for Poultry Sales in UK and Ireland, covering all aspects of the poultry sector, including commercial responsibility, account management, nutritional and technical advice and support to customers on all aspects of commercial poultry nutrition, feed and feed milling

Supporting UK & Ireland Devenish poultry business development by providing high standards of technical input on all aspects of poultry nutrition and management. This includes feed formulation, ingredient knowledge, feed manufacture, quality control, mineral and vitamin premix management. Nutritional and feed support includes broilers, breeders, layers, turkeys and game birds. Also contributing to the companies internal activities in new product development and new technical services. The role also covers all aspects of business development in the sector, and working closely with customers on a day to day basis, right from farm up to retailer level.

I was responsible for IPPC (Industrial Pollution Prevention and Control) licensing of Intensive Pig and Poultry farming operations, feedmills, slaughterhouses and rendering, providing guidance and inspection for each sector. I covered all environmental aspects of each operation, including emissions, noise, dust, control of chemicals, risk management and waste disposal.

I was responsible for all quality and legislative aspects of the business. This included day to day quality control of incoming ingredients and outgoing products, biosecurity, salmonella control, traceability and supply chain quality assurance management, internal auditing, maintaining and developing all quality certification and accreditations associated with industry standards, retailer requirements and quality management systems, such as HACCP, ISO9001, UFAS, Bord Bia, Marks & Spencer, Tesco Approval, etc.. I also was responsible for managing and overseeing the in-house UKAS Accredited Laboratory.

I was responsible for all aspects of the companies pig nutrition. This included development and maintenance of the companies pig product range, managing feed costs, feed formulation, new product development which included research at company and industry level on all aspects of pig nutrition. Technical support and advice to pig producers in conjunction with sales team was also a key function of the role. I also provided a technical support role in poultry nutrition during this period, again covering all aspects of feed formulation, feed quality, costings, customer requirements etc. I also was able to support and provide nutritional back up to the companies ruminant business if and when required. I worked closely with purchasing and production during this period also.
