The consultation delivery team is responsible for overseeing all public consultations at Transport for London. Responsibilities as a consultation analyst include managing the analysis portfolio for all TfL consultations, to provide statistical, demographic and geospatial information to inform decisions on schemes in line with the Business Plan, and for outcome reporting. A strong working knowledge of spreadsheet, database and GIS techniques are required, with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, as well as Geographic Information Systems and TfL online platforms. Excellent numeracy skills and the ability to interpret complex statistical data is also required. The consultation analyst is responsible for ensuring all consultation response analysis and reporting is fair, impartial and honest (according to best practice guidelines) so to reduce risk of validity challenges or a judicial review.

The RNLI Thames Risk Review was a comprehensive study of all incidents on the Thames river and estuary as recorded by the RNLI and the Water Incident Database held by the National Water Safety Forum. The purpose of the study was to assess the spatial distribution of all incidents to help identify where the RNLI can improve its lifeboat services on the Thames. As a Research/GIS Analyst, my responsibilities included gathering, collating, cleansing, and carrying out statistical analysis of the incident data according to predefined specifications and algorithms. I was then required to transform the completed datasets into suitable GIS formats to display their spatial distribution in various maps and figures. This allowed the data to be analysed to identify any correlations between the distribution of incident populations and other characteristics, such as water based activities, demographics, or accessibility to the river.
