Divergent U is a one year alternative to college in Orlando, Florida for creative thinkers to become full time entrepreneurs. Over 60% of our 50+ graduates from our programs have become full time entrepreneurs earning consistent revenue in their own business or brand. Our very first student in 2019, Josh Thompson, co-founded FreetheRoots, a natural health and beauty company. Since graduating FreetheRoots went from $0 to seven figures in sales with over 300,000 followers on Instagram. Josh Thompson is now one of our many alumni mentors for others. We do not offer any paid online classes though we have free content online. Divergent U’s 9 month program in Orlando meets every weekday for group workshops, one on one business coaching sessions, and peer led co-working spaces. At our graduation ceremony (which we promote as a creative entrepreneurship expo) all of our graduates give speeches on stage and set up a booth for their business or brand. I’m personally on a mission to build a new education system centered around a concept I call Divergent Leadership. I gave a TEDx talk on the idea in 2019 and I’m putting the final touches on my second book Divergent Leadership - How to Lead from Within. I started my first business, Hoop Brothers, when I was 18 years old. Hoop Brothers is a basketball media company and we were one of the first basketball YouTube channels to reach 1 million views. Since then we’ve produced videos for over 10,000 student athletes and helped hundreds receive scholarships for college basketball. I sold a percentage of the business in 2022 and hired Jess Adams as CEO. My deepest passion is supporting creative thinkers and leaders.
