Sir Owen Glenn is a High Net Worth individual and Philanthropist who has investments across a number of different asset classes and industries. In 2019, Sir Owen pledged NZ$100m to support small to medium sized NZ businesses. I report directly to Bill Birnie (CNZM) who is responsible for managing Sir Owen’s philanthropic and business activities in NZ and is a member of Sir Owen’s international investment committee.Responsibilities:• Acting as a ‘gatekeeper’, whereby I screened new investment memorandums and pitch decks from businesses seeking financing from Sir Owen, and determining which opportunities fit his hurdle rates, strategy and philanthropic goals.• Financial analysis including preparing financial models, capitalisation tables, SWAT analysis, analysing financial statements, producing marketing materials, tracking portfolio returns and transactional due diligence. • Providing services to Sir Owen’s housing initiative including feasibility analysis, overseeing payments to third parties and invoice and budget tracking.• Liaising with agents and brokers to seek new investment opportunities.

Armillary Private Capital is a mid-tier investment bank in New Zealand. Their services include M&A, capital raising, asset management and advisory services. My primary role was to assist the Directors and Associates in the initiation and completion of transactions to ensure they are completed to a high standard, profitably and promptly.Responsibilities:• Transactional analysis including preparing financial models, analysing financial statements, market and competitor research and transactional due diligence.• Transaction management including liaising with clients and interested parties, drafting documentation and marketing materials, attending meetings and maintaining transactional files and documentation.• Operational management including AML checking, maintenance and updating of CRM systems, managing enquiries and building relationships with potential investors, investees and financial institutions.

NZTE is the government agency charged with helping New Zealand businesses grow internationally. My role was as an analyst/advisor in the International Growth Fund (IGF) team. The IGF is a co-investment scheme to support transformative projects that go beyond business as usual, and have significant potential to benefit NZ.Responsibilities:• Assisting the IGF Manager with fund performance reporting to the Board on a monthly basis.• Reviewing investment proposals and financial models to measure Direct Economic Impact to NZ of the project and funding.• Attending Panel meetings fortnightly to take minutes and provide financial input where required.

This support has a strong focus on commercial lending applications with emphasis on credit writing and portfolio risk management.Responsibilities:• Analysing financial information and preparing proposals for lending requirements.• Assess economic value and risk potential of new business.• Develop and manage a portfolio of customers and referral relationships.• Assist in the implementation of annual business plans for the customers in the portfolio.
