I am a Professor of Psychology at the University of Exeter, and a Director of Research and Impact within the Exeter medical school. I am part of the Virtual Immersive Training and Learning (VITAL) research group, and lead the Exeter Immersive research network. I am a founder and the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at Cineon (www.cineon.io) who develop immersive technology innovations. My research explores the psychology of human performance and learning, using technology (eye tracking, psychophysiological measurement, virtual reality). I focus on the cognitive and psychophysiological factors that determine human peformance, and test training solutions and interventions that might improve performance, health or well-being. This research is applied to a range of different domains (e.g., sport, surgery, military, and aviation) and populations (e.g., children, elite performers and patient groups). I have >100 original articles published in peer review journals. I have been involved in research and innovation grant projects totalling ~£4m.
