Energy Manager
Background: Action 21 was established to provide local level practical sustainability projects to the Warwickshire community. It has four key areas for its work, energy, transport re-use and food. Responsibility: • Delivery of a community based energy efficiency promotion project focusing on loft insulation levels on a low income housing estate • Delivery of a solar thermal and photovoltaic (PV) project, offering discounts for interested local groups• Providing comprehensive energy monitoring for the community insulation project and reporting back to the original funding body. • Provide specialist energy advice to all departments within Action 21.Achievements:• Remote management of a team of ten volunteers • Increased the amount of solar water heaters installation through our solar project six fold• Building and maintaining relationships with the local community, suppliers, Warwickshire district council and other interested parties with the local community• Negotiated with the solar suppliers to include Solar Photovoltaic systems within the project, this was in direct response to requests from the community• Drafted responses from Warwickshire District Council regarding their fuel poverty strategy • Reporting to the funding body (Scottish Peoples Trust) on the progress of the project, by the three-month deadline. This report was sent to the head of Warwickshire District Council to advice on the effects of different technologies. Skills Gained:• Remote management of multiple projects, using volunteer base for project support• Communication of project ideas and goals to a range of stakeholders • Technical report writing • Knowledge of government energy legislation, focusing on demand reduction, Feed in Tariff and the proposed Renewable heat Incentive and policy focusing on fuel poverty • Negotiated changes to terms of contract with a major subcontractor
