After graduating from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education I began my professional career as a substitute teacher in Manatee county, Florida. The following school year I began teaching first and second grade at a local school ran by Charter Schools USA and quickly began learning the in's and out's of planning and instruction. My second year at CSUSA lead me to being team leader for the first grade unit where I had the opportunity to help teach and train colleagues who were new to the organization. After that year I was offered a job at another school, (Imagine North Manatee,) by my former dean of students who had become principal. I began teaching second grade math and science using a departmentalization model where a colleague and I specialized in our respective fields and focused on how to enhance our own planning and teaching styles. Two years passed by and I was requested to move up to third grade to help improve learning gains in one of the testing grades by bringing my talents where they would be the most beneficial. I have spent many years, teaching math and science, at Imagine North Manatee and remain there to this day. During my time at ISMN I have acquired and honed many skills that I feel are beneficial, not only to myself as a person, but as a professional. I have taught math and science using a standards-based model while simultaneously teaching character development. I have been a member of my school's Shared Values, Character Development, and Economic-Sustainability committees where I helped develop, plan and incorporate initiatives that would benefit the schools and the stakeholders of the campus. I have learned how to utilize a variety of technologies in the field of education including how to create and maintain an online learning platform for E-learning students. I became proficient in using Google Classroom and ZOOM to host online classes for student to participate in digitally while simultaneously teaching a group of students within the classroom itself in a hybrid model. I am now the team leader of the third grade teachers and strive to help my collogues become more efficient and effective teachers by engaging in strategic planning and utilizing data to benefit our instruction.I am confidant that I have attained an abundance of skills that will be useful in any workplace and I will strive to enhance that skill set even further through determination, effort, and learning. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.-Sam Wallin
