My team is now responsible for improving content moderation tools for Wikimedia's editing community.
As the Product Manager for the Wikipedia Library team, my team built tools to support Wikipedia editors research processes, ensuring they can get access to the reliable sources they need to write trustworthy content. In addition to product management, I managed the project's partnerships, supported community tool development, and worked on other projects relating to Wikipedia's reliability.
In 2018 I converted to a full-time member of staff at the Wikimedia Foundation. In addition to partnership coordination work, I also oversaw and made technical contributions to the Library Card platform (https://wikipedialibrary.wmflabs.org/), built and supported community tools, worked on initiatives to improve Wikipedia's citation infrastructure, and supported community members in establishing their own partnerships.
Coordinated access donation partnerships with leading publishers, aggregators, and online reference works to enable free access for Wikipedia editors. This involved reaching out to potential partners, maintaining ongoing partnerships, providing metrics reports, and editor support.
In my spare time I am a Trustee of Silth's Sanctuary, an animal rescue charity (UK Charity number: 1195252) I co-founded, through which we foster, socialise, and rehome stray cats.
As the Team Lead for the PR team on Project Borealis I led a small team responsible for the project's communications and community work. This included running a Discord server, social media channels, and coordinating development update videos.Over 2 years we grew the project's YouTube channel to more than 100,000 subscribers with over 4 million total views. The project was covered in major gaming news publications including PC Gamer, Kotaku, Polygon, and IGN.
Following on from my degree in astrophysics I completed a two-year research MPhil on the properties of stellar halos in the EAGLE cosmological simulations. The project was supervised by Dr Andreea Font and the ARI computational group.
During this summer research project I studied molecular gas in Planetary Nebulae with Dr Isabel Aleman as part of the Leiden/ESA Astrophysics Program for Summer Students (LEAPS). Using spectra taken with the Herschel Space Observatory (from the Herschel Planetary Nebula Survey) we conducted research into their molecular content.
