Civil mediator and arbitrator with substantial training and experience, who appreciates the importance of neutrality and who understands the dynamics of a successful mediation as well as the goals of commercial arbitration. Comfortable mediating or arbitrating any type of civil dispute, although for the past 10+ years involved exclusively in resolving complex construction disputes as an advocate, mediator and arbitrator. In 1997, studied negotiation, advanced negotiation and mediation at Harvard Law School through what is now known as the Harvard Negotiation Institute. Studied advanced mediation techniques for multi-party and complex disputes at the Center for Dispute Settlement in Washington D.C. and was a participant in the Advanced Commercial Mediation Institute. Currently a member of the panel of referees for construction cases in the Ohio Court of Claims. Certified mediator for the U.S. Postal Service REDRESS program and mediated numerous cases in various courts of common pleas in Ohio. Former Chair ADR Committee for the Columbus Bar Association. Before coming to Ohio, maintained a general civil trial practice in California beginning in 1978. During that time, in addition to acting as an advocate, served as a judge pro tem, civil law settlement officer, arbitrator, court-appointed referee and mediator for the San Diego County Superior Court involving a wide variety of civil actions. Retired as partner with Bricker & Eckler LLP in 2012. Former member of the American Arbitration Association panels for construction and commercial arbitration.
