I joined the University of Manchester in March 2020 as a Research Associate. I hold a PhD in Political Science and an MA in British Politics and the State, both awarded by the University of BirminghamMy research to date is at the intersection between British politics, public policy and political economy. My current role is as Research Officer for a Nuffield Foundation funded project 'Public Expenditure Planning and Control in Complex Times: A Study of Whitehall Departments’ Relationship to the Treasury (1993-Present)' working with Dave Richards (Manchester), Diane Coyle (Cambridge) and Martin Smith (York). The project investigates a tension that has emerged in the British system of government between highly centralised mechanisms of financial control and an increasingly fragmented system of governance, aiming to better understand Treasury adaptability to this new landscape.Before joining Manchester, I was an Associate Lecturer at the University of York having previously worked at the University of Birmingham as a Teaching Fellow. I have taught across a range of British politics, political economy and public policy modules. I have published articles in a number of leading journals and I am currently finalising the manuscript of my first book, to be published by Manchester University Press in 2022.
