Sam White is a Providence-based artist and director who makes art on walls, in books, on canvas, and in the streets. www.samowhite.com Sam earned an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop in 1999, was a fellow at the MacDowell Colony, and has published widely in journals and anthologies. In Providence, he has organized eight full-blown summer art carnivals of his own design, earning multi-year project support from RISCA and the PVD Dept of Arts Culture and Tourism. He co-designed and served as the Director of Operations for Aurora, an arts lounge and music venue in downtown PVD. For the past three years, Sam has worked full time as a freelance illustrator and muralist, contracting with such organizations and companies as Mojotech, Brown Univiersity, Bridgewater State University, The Dean Hotel and Boombox Karaoke Lounge, Nail Communications, Loft LLC, and The Boston Globe.In 2018 Sam was the 2D Local Artist in Residence at The Avenue Concept in Providence. He was also one four public artists selected to create installations for the 2018 PVD Fest.
