Sam is an ophthalmology resident at the Moran Eye Center.Sam graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine where he served as a student-body co-president. Additionally, Sam helped build the RealMD program to create professional development events and content for medical students to maintain their purpose and meaning throughout medical education. He also worked with a group of students to create content to help medical students navigate difficult transitions during medical school, including "Transition to Medical School" and "Clerkship Survival Guide."Other medical interests include Bench-to-Bedside (former medical chair), a medical innovation startup competition; Ewing Sarcoma research with the Dr. Joshua Schiffman Lab; value-driven healthcare pathway; and global health.Sam graduated from Westminster College, Salt Lake City, with a degree in Economics as well as an Honors degree. He spent two years working at University Venture Fund as a Senior Associate (highest attainable student position) where he helped manage an $18 million fund. While at the University Venture Fund, Sam worked on a variety of value-add projects and potential investments.His time on campus was spent as Vice President of the Associated Students of Westminster College and President of the Westminster Student Honors Council. Sam has served as the student representative on the Westminster Board of Trustees Institutional Planning and Effectiveness Committee, student representative on the Technology Learning Resources Committee, and student chair on the Opportunity Fund.

After graduating, Sam was a Product Manager for School Improvement Network, an industry innovator in education technology. He worked with education thought leaders to create software solutions for teachers and students. Sam oversaw the development of GAGE, an online learning platform to enable a student-centered learning environment to increase student achievement.Sam has also worked at Goldman Sachs as a Summer Analyst in the Equity Derivatives Operations group. He has spent time studying economics and Mandarin Chinese at Nankai University (top ranked Chinese university) in Tianjin, China. Sam enjoys an active lifestyle playing tennis, basketball, racquetball and ping pong. He also enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and spending time with his dogs.
