Mr. Sam Williams, has been in the non-profit sector for over 20 years. He’s a native Bostonian and a graduate from Boston University with a Master's Degree In City Planning. Mr. Williams was formerly the Senior Program Manager for Summer Search Boston, the Safe And Successful Youth Initiative, Commonwealth Corporation. Prior to obtaining these positions, he worked for many years at Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry as Chief Operating officer, City Year Boston and Youth Opportunity Boston, serving the Boston community in a variety of ways. Mr. Williams has been instrumental in various initiatives across the city of Boston including: prison rehabilitation and re-entry, racial profiling, community economic development, urban planning, youth development and public safety. Mr. Williams is currently the chair of the Community Advisory Board for Northeastern University’s Institute of Race and Justice. Mr. Williams is a former member of the Board of Directors of (ABCD) Action for Boston Community Development, an appointed member of the Executive Office of Public Safety, Massachusetts Racial Profiling Task Force. He is also a poet, writer and trainer. Mr. Williams was honored in 2006 by The Philanthropic Initiative as a recipient of the Boston Neighborhood Fellows Award for his leadership and commitment to others. Other honors include: The Whittier Street Men’s Health Summit 2006 Health Champion, The Jay Bliztman Youth Advocacy Award 2004, and the Action for Boston Community Development Award in 2004 for outstanding volunteer contribution to the City Of Boston.
