I have recently joined the team at my local climbing wall. Initially they need help running some sessions so I volunteered to help them out in my spare time. This has progressed to me having a casual contract with them where I assist and run coaching classes and group sessions when I am available. I work with ages 6+, as well as adults and senior climbers. I find this work really rewarding and enjoyable, I have found it to be really helpful in my personal and work life. I have gone through a rigorous training program to ensure I am able to run courses safely, competently, adhering to the set standards and step in and rescue if needed.

Following a promotion at the BBA I have taken on a certification scientist role. The role focuses around me planning, co-ordinating and carrying out assessments of most construction products and systems. I manage multiple projects (currently managing 23)where I am expected to prepare contract offers and estimates for the assessment of various types of construction products and systems related to the Material field of work. Another part of my job is to research and investigate aspects of construction product/system performance, work as part of a team contributing to team and individual targets and objectives and regularly converse with clients ensuring I maintain good quality and standards at all times. My work also expects expected me to collaborate, share knowledge, assisting other senior colleagues in developing new schemes/services and policies, guiding and mentoring junior colleagues, and review assessment work of junior colleagues to ensure the tasks are completed accurately. I am also part of our employee forum where we regularly discuss with SLT any issues or CPD opportunities they could provide to the wider staff in the company.

As a Technical Project Coordinator (TPC) at the BBA my role is to manage the communication between the internal workforce and our clients on current construction industry projects. I am currently working as the TPC for the BBA’s material certification department. This is a large team where I manage close to 100 projects at any given time. I communicate technical information, requests, and data to clients in a user friendly manner while acting as a liaison between the clients and internal workforce. My role requires me to solve any issues or delays that the client may experience during the certification process. This is via internal communication across the entire company, holding and chairing meetings with international and national clients. This process is documented, saved and tracked to ensure that the entire company has an understanding of the progression of each job. Building relationships with the clients is also key and understanding their needs to benefit the company is essential to keeping on top of what they require. To do this I am organised, I have excellent communication skills and I am able to manage my time and work load independently and efficiently. The TPC role was created when I joined and I have helped to develop the role and then train and support new TPC’s joining the company.

As a product Development Manager and Wood CNC Machinist at Julien Christian, the prioritisation of management for a functional work environment was a key benefactor to the efficiency of the workshop and company. The role required interpersonal relationships, clear communication skills and close work with management. As such, I frequently acted as a main point of contact between the workshop floor and the establishment manager. Working in a luxury furniture and building company enabled me research and development responsibilities and experiences that would improve the efficiency of which building processes were handled. The nature of such an involved position means I am knowledgeable of the requirements necessary for project management. For example, while working at Julien and Christian, I was responsible for the organisation and certified completion of projects within a strict deadline. This was to provide excellent customer service care and results that accurately reflect the company’s work ethic. On the rare occasion of a prolonged project due to unforeseen circumstances, I was frequently commended for my competency, handling issues and customer care with ease, providing additional support to co-workers and assisting workload. As an agricultural trailer and tractor company I am experienced working with a variety of processes and machinery. I was required to understand the role of a fitter in order to assemble the machines and deal with necessary repairs while out in the field. I have received health and safety training to use and manage forklifts, bridge cranes, plasma and oxyacetylene cutters, brake press, assembly processes and reading engineering drawings to determine parts and understand how to put them together. As such, being a quick and efficient learner was key to fulfilling the role successfully, which I was frequently commended for by my superiors. This meant I was able to cover many roles with the skills I had learnt. The job required hard work and sometimes over time and late-night shifts to ensure preparations – such as trailer and machine maintenance – to ensure work could start successfully the next morning. As a part of my role was responsibility for tool management and maintenance, I was well adapt to working such shifts to aid in the workload of my colleagues, for the benefit of the company.

The position of Set designer and lead builder at World’s End, Wendover, saw me as the responsible point of contact between upper mangers and colleagues. My main responsibility was overseeing production and design of a family attraction, Christmas grotto, for the World's End Garden centre in Wendover. I personally ensured all equipment was working and safe and sourced practical building materials that would bring the client’s walk-through design to life. Such materials included plastics, wood and metal and the imaginative use of lifelike animatronic toys to elevate the design. As a project manager for the team, I was responsible for scheduling, designing and sending out a weekly rota and organising daily tasks for all staff. This enabled a smooth and collaborative experience that was positive for all involved. In addition, research and sourcing tasks were also my responsibility, providing music and lighting equipment for the final product. I was responsible for correctly installing and wiring all electronics to be placed out of the way, both keeping visitors safe and providing the perfect aesthetic. It was important I was efficient and communicative as a project manager as we were working to a tight deadline, which was successfully met, resulting in very positive feedback from our client and audience.

This company also enabled me the opportunity to manage attractions at largescale events, such as formula 1, Winter Wonderland and Mercedes Benz World. Due to these opportunities being a creative role as much as an administrative one, I have experience building and managing metal, wood, casting and plastic fabrication. I have experience managing and monitoring 3D printing design, graphic design and running printers to create moulds and parts for company projects. I am an experienced workshop employee and can confidently use power tools, metal cut, finish material and have some experience with weld machines.

While studying at London South Bank University, I took up a fulltime position as a kitchen designer for B&Q. My main role consisted of customer care and communication, discussing concepts and design for their chosen product -bathroom, bedroom or kitchen. I was frequently working to a customer deadline, during which I would design their product and create a 3D model to demonstrate layout, details and unique qualities. I worked as a direct point of contact for my commissioners, often arranging in-person or email/telephone meetings to talk through ideas and provide updates. Finally, I managed payment and final product listing for the designs I had created, which would then be built. To greater ensure customer satisfaction, I would often create multiple designs for the customer allowing for greater options to choose from.
