With over a decade in analytics, I have led teams to successfully navigate the evolving data landscape. My role helps our users become more comfortable with a myriad of complex outputs and helps develop our hugely diverse workforce in understanding the narratives our data shows. This role includes all the duties of the analyst role below, with the responsibility of managing a diverse, disparate team ranging from those just starting their careers to more experienced staff alongside project management. This involves work planning, role development and expectation management aspects. This position encompasses the entire analytical pathway and builds on my previous role – from scoping national data sources, agreeing transfer, quality assuring, analysing and producing outputs appropriate for the audience and with suitable information governance at every step. My role involves project managing a number of high profile pieces of work and assisting directly on or advising many others, taking the initiative where necessary to meet demands and produce quality outcomes.

This analyst role involved responsibility for quality assuring and reporting all aspects of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening. The role was completely new to the NHS, and has been defined by myself. Starting from scratch the unit now produces a mass of high quality, timely and relevant regular reports which have had a real improvement on quality. Duties involved creating and reporting data, working with a wide range of people including national directors, clinicians and my peers and the audit of work, such as the use of CTC. Above the role day to day requirements, I helped found a data mangers group for the country, pioneered access to and the use of radiological and pathological data. The role involved excellent analytic skills, high levels of communication skills, ability to work under pressure, a keen insight in to the drivers of data quality and an ability to produce original thought which translates in to meaningful projects and changes.

The core of this was the logistical management of engineers testing portable appliances. It included the planning of 77 engineers workloads up to 6 months ahead, dealing with customer and engineer queries and contacting customers to arrange appointments. The role demanded work under pressure, to targets and needed an ability to react to changes quickly and re-prioritise on a daily basis.
