Chapman is a small Arts Council funded publishing firm best known its quarterly magazine of the same name. As Assistant Editor I worked in a busy and close team of dedicated volunteers with the editor-publisher.Responsible for proof-reading, copy-editing and lay-out of illustration as directed by the Editor, as well as writing occasional pieces.Commissioned/ liaised with writers, illustrators, printers, venue managers and the Arts Council.Produced catalogues and solicited adverts, as well as organized and publicized book-launches and events, including a five event tour with four authors.Excellent communication skills were required throughout and were vital for commissioning and promotional work as well as working with volunteers.An eye for detail, initiative, the ability to adapt and to work with a minimum of supervision, and excellent time management were all prerequisite skills.The position also involved administrative duties such as letter writing, basic bookkeeping, database maintenance, handling orders and invoices.
