I am a student-teaching intern at West Anchorage High School and a member of the 2020-2021 class of the University of Alaska Southeast Masters in the Art of Teaching program. Following the completion of my placement in West High's AP US History, IB History of the Americas, Ancient Civilizations, and US Government classes, I hope to teach social studies at either the high school or middle school level. I am a 2020 graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, with a minor in Philosophy. At UAA, I was a four-year member of the nationally-competitive Seawolf Debate Team, where I primarily served as a mentor, coach, and adjudicator for collegiate debaters while honing my own skills in critical thinking, public speaking, and productive communication. My proudest accomplishments have been as the coach of the West High Drama, Debate, and Forensics team, where I have helped the talented students of West achieve the title of Alaska DDF State Champions 3 out of the 4 years I have coached. In addition to my experience and expertise in competitive debate, I provide insights into dramatic performance gained from my time spent working with theater productions, most notably as the Assistant Camp Director of the Alaska Theater of Youth Summer Conservatory in 2018. Before pursing my teaching certification, I worked in schools as a Special Education Teacher's Aide at both the high school and middle school level. Outside of the classroom, I continued my work with young people experiencing disabilities as an Individual Support Specialist at organizations such as the Sitka Center for Community and Hope Community Resources.
