  • Hamilton Company
    Software Engineer Ii
    Hamilton Company May 2019 - Jan 2020
    Reno, Nevada Area
Evolving from my previous position, I became responsible for a part of developing a revolutionary new product in the automated liquid handling field, the MicroLab Prep. This product paired Hamilton's years of automation experience with a smaller, more affordable instrument. My role in the release of this product was to design and develop an extensible automation library to control this device. This involved integrating with a number of legacy APIs to support 3D visualization, dry-run simulation, and pathing optimization. In addition to the automation library, I also developed an extensible test framework that allowed testing firmware and hardware releases. This software saved hundreds of man-hours by running scripted actions on devices so new firmware and hardware releases could be validated with minimal human intervention. This software went on to be deployed at customer sites and is currently being used as a diagnostic utility for the MicroLab Prep.
  • Hamilton Company
    Software Engineer
    Hamilton Company Jan 2017 - May 2019
    Reno, Nevada Area
As part of a small team integrating third party devices with Hamilton's first party laboratory automation software, I designed and developed automation libraries to support medical and research instruments. With a mind for clean APIs and robust error recovery mechanisms, I released dozens of software packages that are still used by well-known players in the medical field today. When not writing automation software, I initiated the design of a templating framework for spinning up new automation software quickly. This templating allowed for faster and more robust software by scaffolding the automation package, public documentation, and a Windows installer. Throughout my time at Hamilton this template framework grew in capability and complexity and was still widely used when I moved on.
