Active Schools Coordinator Lead For Inclusion And Equality
I am currently working within the Active Schools Team in Dundee, leading the team on promoting the inclusiveness and equitability of school sport across the city. I am based at Kingspark school, as part of my focus is to promote sporting opportunities for pupils with disabilities. My role also extends to working with the attainment challenge schools aiming to close the gap of attainment and opportunities that exits in Dundee. The role includes working with pupils who are most likely to disengage with sport and as such I work on developing initiatives to improve opportunities for teenage girls in sport and looked after pupils.I also lead the city's Volunteer and Training group working to develop the work that we do with all our valued volunteers delivering numerous extracurricular sporting opportunities for pupils in Dundee.
Active Schools Coordinator For Secondary School Sport
Working with the Active Schools team I took a role to further develop a calendar of events for Secondary Schools Competitions. In the lead up to the London 2012 Games the initiative was awarded an Inspire Mark in recognition of our outstanding non-commercial project genuinely inspired by London 2012 Games. Within my role I project managed the 70+ events that took place as well as running almost all the events, in partnership with local professional and voluntary organisations and in particular promoting young peoples involvement in running these sporting events. The emphasis at the time was to ensure that competitiveness was encouraged doing so while keeping to the Olympic and Paralympic ideals and values of, determination, courage, equality, inspiration, friendship, excellence and respect.
