Samad Ahmed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Adekunle Ajasin University, Nigeria where he graduated as the Best Graduating Student (BGS) in his department with a First Class (Hons). Samad is an enthusiastic budding research scientist, meanwhile, he is also an emerging data analyst. As a research scientist, Samad is not only proficient in computational design and discovery of native and de novo compounds as potential drug candidates, he is also skilled in molecular biology techniques such as in-cell nucleic acids and protein extraction. In parallel, his data analysis and visualization skill covers proficiency in MS Excel, IBM Cognos, and Python programming; and gaining skills in SQL, statistics, and PowerBI. Samad discovered his passion for science and research after noticing his track record of science advocacy. Early in his undergraduate, he began to train colleagues and younger scientists on research, and academic writing that include emphasis on bibliography usage in assignments, and avoidance of plagiarism. In his quest for research, he has contributed two articles in peer-reviewed international journals. In one of his recent publications, he discovered four novel compounds as potential antidiabetic drug candidates whose profiles are better than six FDA-approved drugs.And, Samad as a data analyst is adept in web scraping, data transformation, data visualization, and dashboard creation to aid insight generation. • Researched the prophylactics, curative, and suppressive ability of Enantia chlorantha stem bark Saponin on malaria parasite: Plasmodium berghei-infected mice, and result showed high potential for curative effect. • Oversaw assigned activities under the guidance of advisor.• Conducted detailed analysis, created visualizations, and built reports, based on generated research data using Graph pad prism and Excel• Participated in Enantia chlorantha stem bark crude extract solvent-extraction, and subsequent extraction of the Saponin and the Flavonoid fractions; And assayed their antioxidant activities.This study was designed to evaluate the changes in some hematological parameters of plasmodium berghei-infected mice treated with saponin extract of Enantia chlorantha. The saponin extract of the bark at 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg body weight/day dose levels were used to treat the test groups immediately after infection for the suppressive test, and, treatment stopped on day 5, on inoculation for prophylactics test. While the treatment commenced for 5 days after inoculation in 72 hours post-infection for the curative test. The standard antimalarial drugs Arthemeter-Lumefantrine and Chloroquine at a dose of 140 mg/kg and 250mg/kg body weight respectively, was administered to the positive control group. And, the negative control group was left untreated.
