Leadership and management of a HR & OD function delivering the full range of strategic and operational HR & OD support for the council and a number of external client organisations including schools. Leading the development and delivery of the council’s workforce and organisational development strategies. Contributing to the council and external clients’ strategic plans, advising corporate management team(s), elected and board members on the workforce implications of their decisions. Leading on the development and implementation of the overall workforce strategy to ensure the council has the workforce capacity to deliver our Great 8 priorities and ambitions for the city. Developing and implementing innovative and creative workforce development strategies and plans to drive improvement and support transformation. Leading the development of a multi agency workforce strategy to deliver the Locality Plan ambitions for health and social care in the city.

Provision of a customer driven HR service, implementing the most effective and consistent HR solutions for all stakeholders and customers. Working with the Assistant Director, HR to manage the HR function including business planning, resource management, liaison with service directors regarding the HR service.The provision of expert professional HR advice and support across the Council to support the delivery of service redesign and reconfiguration. Development of appropriate strategies for implementing organisational change and ensuring service directorates’ future staffing requirements were robustly assessed and analysed.Leading on the development of fit for the future people strategies to ensure a flexible and responsive workforce able to drive the organisation forward during periods of significant change. Working closely with the senior leadership teams across the organisation as they developed the business aspect of organisational change and ensuring that the people dimension was managed simultaneously.
