    As ddPCR Content Program Manager, I led the digital PCR assay development at Bio-Rad.I was involved in the assay development program from its inception, starting with the R&D work that enabled us to consistently design high-quality Rare Mutation Detection assays. We quickly scaled up our process, transferred most of the hands-on work to a liquid handling robot, and developed a database to track thousands of assays from design through to validation and then release to customers.During the course of this work, the team developed hundreds of validated mutations detection assays, as well as a robust assay design algorithm with a high success rate on the first pass. We also developed a strong understanding of the thermodynamics driving the phenotypes that we se in digital PCR assay, which continues to inform our assay development.More recently, the Content team built a soon-to-be-released customer facing platform for custom assay design. It will enable Bio-Rad to support custom assay design requests, and to rapidly add support for new types of assays.
