About Samantha Eustace
My job is about ensuring radiation is used effectively and safely for medical imaging (such as in x-ray and (in my case) nuclear medicine imaging). I test radiation equipment, help choose and set up new equipment, teach, advise and support all our provincial nuclear medicine departments. For the patient a nuclear medicine scan is like an inverse x-ray. Instead of shining xrays through them, the radiation is injected into the patient and special devices known as gamma cameras are used to see the radiation that comes out. This tells the doctor about the function (physiology) of internal organs and systems rather than xrays which more typically look at the structure (anatomy) of our insides.
Listed skills include Medical Imaging, Medical Physics, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and 27 others.
