- Providing care and husbandry to stock, transgenic and knockout animal lines. - Cleaning and general upkeep of animal holding and central areas - Conforming to microbiological control procedures for Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) area - Monitoring breeding performance of stock, transgenic and knockout lines of mice and maintaining their records. - Generating pseudo-pregnant and timed mated females by checking plugs and recording results. - Cage cleaning and preparation - Monitoring of animal numbers according to ethical approval and recording weekly cage numbers for individual researchers. - Handling and monitoring stores levels - Participation on the weekend/public holiday roster - Checking the welfare and health of all animals - Performing IP/SC injections - Collection of blood samples for Health testing. - Euthanasing animals for colony manipulation and welfare reasons using approved methods - Sexing and weaning of animals as required - Liaising with researchers by phone, email and in person - Ensuring security of animal holding areas - Data entry and record keeping- Adherence to regulatory guidelines
