Joined the Power Supply and Distribution team at SNC-Lavalin Rail & Transit Canada as a senior consultant from the UK to bring OCS knowledge and experience to work on Eglinton Crosstown LRT project.Design phase responsibilities include undertaking OCS design, managing the workload, schedules and budget within the team and continuous design coordination with other disciplines to ensure smooth design interfaces. Close and regular liaison with the construction client, vendor and installation contractor to provide procurement support and an input into the construction strategy.Quality management including checking of design work, improving design and checking processes and general site inspections.Construction phase responsibilities include providing ongoing technical support to the construction team and answer site queries.Worked with the Power Supply and Distribution Director to determine the team growth and development requirements for the business plan to meet the needs of the current and pipeline project demands.Part of the team management in terms of resource and task management, forecasting, training and pipeline work planning.

Brought into Interfleet as a Senior Consultant to assist in the start up and growth of Interfleet's new Electrification and Plant team, by developing the infrastructure portfolio in line with the business plan, and implementing a supporting operational structure. Due to a shortage of resources in the UK to meet the demand of the National Electrification Project, trained junior engineers in OCS design to bring them to the required skill levels to enable more projects to be undertaken and provide efficiency.Worked as both lead design engineer and task manager on different projects including Midland Mainline London St Pancras to Bedford Upgrade GRIP 2 & 3, Great Western Electrification Project, Midland Mainline & ATF design on the West Coast Power Supply Upgrade. Design work in various projects included production of OCS drawings, generation and evaluation of OCS options, early stage feasibility studies, detailed design, analysis of wire runs (through design criteria calculations) and allocation design.Heavily involved in the quality management of OCS design, Produced design checklists and CAD standards to standardize OCS design, improve design efficiency and provide a complete audit trail of the checking of design criteria and calculations. Further developed spreadsheets whichautomates design criteria calculations.Comprehensive knowledge of the UK design parameters and UK market requirements. This allows system comparisons outside the UK which enables provision of benefits to other countries, for example passing on automated design processes from UK best practice.Regular attendance of technical briefings delivered by Network Rail on ongoing new developments of OCS equipment and keep up to date with UK Railway Standards.
