Hello! I'm Samantha, and I am a landscape designer and BCSLA Intern, based in so-called Vancouver, on the traditional and unsurrendered territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm(Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. I hold a Bachelors degree in Environmental Design with a focus on Landscape and Urbanism from the UofM, and a Masters in Landscape Architecture from UBC. I am a meticulous and enthusiastic worker and a fast learner. I believe that landscape architecture exists at a beautiful and fascinating intersection of human experience and environmental systems. This intersection provides an opportunity for real environmental and societal justice and change. My favourite design challenges are those that question our standard western and colonial approaches to design or tackle social justice issues. When I'm doing research, I gravitate towards topics on environmental justice, healing gardens, or peace-building landscapes.
