Acting Director until December 2024. Involved in ongoing quality improvement of the operational workflows of the Medical Workforce Unit. The unit works closely with the Medical Education and Training department. The unit provides Junior Medical Staff (JMS) and Senior Medical Staff (SMS) workforce functions such as rosters, vacancy management, payroll submissions, Medical EBA roster and entitlement compliance, credentialing, contracts including private practice agreement compliance and craft group reviews, secondment agreements and JMS recruitment functions under the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office at Barwon Health. The role oversees a Senior and Junior Medical Services Manager.

Current substantive role under the Chief Operating Officer Barwon Health, overseeing a number of areas, portfolios and projects including but not limited to Access and Resource, Specialist Outpatient Clinics redesign, Aboriginal Health Unit. Have been Acting Chief Operating Officer during times of leave for the COO.

Established the local Public Health Unit at Northern Health in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic 2021. This unit functioned in a contact tracing and outbreak management capacity. Here, I completed Department of Health Authorised Officer training and was responsible for the operational functioning of the unit including HR, Financial and Quality aspects of running a unit in a healthcare setting. This unit worked as part of the North Eastern Local Public Health Unit cluster with Austin Health (lead) and Eastern Health. (spoke). This role involved working closely with the Department of Health.

Operational report for the Division of Cancer and Outpatient Clinic services including during the pandemic which saw large scale operational, cultural, transformational and industrial changes to the division. I was the reporting line Director for the Nurse Unit Managers of Day Oncology, Palliative Care, Inpatient Cancer Unit, Integrated Palliative Care Consult Service and Specialist Outpatient Clinics. I project managed the build of a Telehealth Hub in 6 weeks to facilitate a change in 800-1000 patient face to face presentations into a telehealth model across 3 sites. Operationally/ Project managed and oversaw the Nurse Unit Manager in designing and implementing the model of care for the Day Oncology home chemotherapy service-operationalised in 8 weeks!

Managed 32 Bed Oncology / Haematology /General Medicine unit servicing the northern corridor of Victoria. Transitioned to the Director of Operations of the Divsion of Cancer Services with this unit being one of the clinical areas reporting into my role.

Voluntary elected position by national professional HSANZ nurse members, to contribute to the haematology nursing profession accross Australia and New Zealand. Leading and managing the education, development and assisting in the planning of the annual Blood conference. Includes stakeholder engagement and memorandum of understating development and oversight with similar organisations such as CNSA and EBMT and maintaining pharmaceutical stakeholder relationships. Management of registration and growth of the nurses group to provide specialty nurses with educational and networking opportunities. The role includes 3 publications in the newsletters presidents report. As part of the executive group I ensure treasury is maintained as well as oversight of each of the state groups and special practice networks.

I managed a 40 bed Oncology/Haematology/Palliative Care inpatient unit. I led the growth and expansion of the haematology service delivery as well as organisational change to support such a service. This includes development/ changes to the nursing model of care and operational management to develop the infrastructure for an acute haematology service with a focus on building the skill mix of the nursing workforce and policy procedural development/ change. The service delivery grew threefold in a year with a robust team. I was part of the design and planning executive team for the HEPA filtered patient rooms for immunocompromised patients. Established the foundation and nurse training (initiated and organised Austin Health observation days) for an autologous transplant service. Oversaw and led the implementation of the clinical trials service development and integration onto the ward.

Experience with setting up and maintaining pharmaceutical and investigator led haematology clinical trials.

In this role I planned, coordinated and delivered targeted support servcies, education and information material specific to the unique needs of people affected by these rare blood cancers accross Australia. I steered awareness raising initiatives as well as coordinated national disease specific event days to improve understanding and increase support for people affected by these rare blood cancers. I established and maintained collaborative networks nationally and internationally with a range of organisations to ensure the best possible services and outcomes for people affected by an MPN or MDS in Australia.My Master of Nursing research thesis was conducted here titled 'National MPN Survey'. This research helped inform service provision as well as used for the LFA submission to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) submission in support of Ruxolitinib onto the PBS. I attended the PBAC meeting to provide the LFA recommendations as part of my role based on my research.

As a senior member of staff and a nurse leader I was a point of contact for knowledge and information relating to nursing management and intervention, initiatives, disease information, symptom management, palliation and treatment delivery (chemotherapy, autologous stem cell transplant and immunotherapy) for haematology and oncology patients in the inpatient ward at this busy metropolitan hospital. I was involved in the continuing education process of nurses in this department by providing inservices on the diseases, treatments, medications, hospital processes/policies and any other relevant information to update knowledge within the cancer nursing stream and consequently ensure best practice within this specialty.

I worked for 6 months in the hepatobilliary and colorectal surgery ward which also had general surgery patients. I then worked in the oncology/ haematology setting including a 6 month rotation to the outpatient day oncology unit which also involved intra and post procedural nursing management and care of patients undergoing bone marrow biopsies. This also included central venous access device management, education and removal.

This role provided me with experience in aged care which has been a valuable platform and foundation for my nursing career.
