Practice focused on representing the Montana Department of Environmental Quality in matters related to state and federal “Superfund” laws and the Montana Water Quality Act, involving cleanup and rehabilitation of contaminated sites throughout Montana. Represented the State of Montana and DEQ before state and federal courts. Served as DEQ’s lead attorney at 15 state and federal Superfund sites and successfully negotiated and drafted a settlement with ExxonMobil related to cleanup and penalties arising from the Silvertip pipeline oil spill to the Yellowstone River.
