I am a Reader in Applied Linguistics at the University of Bath and an Adjunct Professor at Khazar University, Azerbaijan. I earned my DPhil in Education (Applied Linguistics) from the University of Oxford, where I also completed two MSc degrees. My research explores English Medium Instruction (EMI), bilingual education, and language learning psychology. I have published widely and I have received multiple awards, including the University of Bath’s Doctoral Recognition Award (2023/24) and the Recognising Excellence Award (2021/22). The main objective of the Departmental Seminar Series is to provide flagship externally facing events for the Department of Education, University of Bath. We aim to invite seminar speakers whose research is interesting, exciting and significant (even - pushing boundaries in their field). This research aligns with the work we are doing in the department so that seminars will appeal to departmental colleagues and students, and potentially, academic colleagues across the university, and a wider public audience.
