The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)’s South West Doctoral Training Partnership (SWDTP) comprises 12 disciplinary pathways and 5 interdisciplinary pathways. Each of these has a nominated Pathway Lead from each of the partner Universities where the pathway is delivered. The Pathway Lead has an important part to play in helping the SWDTP to meet its aim of delivering high quality research training to doctoral students.

The main objective of the Departmental Seminar Series is to provide flagship externally facing events for the Department of Education, University of Bath. We aim to invite seminar speakers whose research is interesting, exciting and significant (even - pushing boundaries in their field). This research aligns with the work we are doing in the department so that seminars will appeal to departmental colleagues and students, and potentially, academic colleagues across the university, and a wider public audience. We aim to have one seminar per year with a speaker from the local community to help us push on with our strategic aims of public engagement and building civic partnerships.

I am responsible for teaching and assessing Applied Linguistics modules and Advanced Quantitative Research Methods modules. These are offered on the MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), the MRes in Advanced Quantitative Methods (AQM) in Social Sciences, Doctorate of Education (EdD) and BA (Hons) in Education with Psychology programmes. I also supervise Undergraduate, Masters, EdD, and PhD students.

I am responsible for the day-to-day management of the Master of Research in Advanced Quantitative Methods in Social Sciences. As a member of the Department Learning, Teaching & Quality Committee I oversee duties such as course documentation (handbook and course specification), feedback to students, student placement and exchanges, implementation of adjustments for disabled students, student representation including Staff-Student Liaison Committees and wider engagement activities, and pastoral support for students working in close collaboration with Senior and Personal Tutors.

The project is titled: "A cost-benefit investigation of the Englishization of higher education and the English medium instruction boom". My main responsibility is to conduct quantitative analysis on questionnaire data. This data contains measurements of latent constructs such as Challenges in EMI, Motivation for EMI, and Self-Efficacy. Analysis starts from Correlations, to Linear/Multiple Regressions, to eventual Structural Equation Modelling.
